Running a digital agency is difficult enough. Sometimes though factors outside our control make it even tougher. A prolonged economic downturn is a good example of this, if running our businesses is challenging during times of normal economic conditions, how will we survive during an economic downturn?
One simple fact is many digital agencies do not survive a downturn. The owners go back to freelancing, or worse, working for someone else. The staff try to work out “what next” and the clients go find a new agency to serve them.
Another simple fact though is the digital agencies that do survive times of economic downturn end up with leaner, more effective, more profitable businesses. The end up with businesses that take full advantage of the more positive economic conditions that always follow and invariably, the owners of these digital agencies end up with the businesses they always dreamed of.
